Packing = 120 Seeds
These charming cottage-garden flowers are easy to grow. bloom quickly. and create a beautiful mix of colors. They’re also loved by bees and butterflies
Follow the simple steps below for best results:
1. Best Time to Plant
Bachelor’s Buttons prefer cool weather. so direct sowing outdoors works best.
Cold winter climates: sow in early spring. as soon as the soil can be worked
Mild winter climates: sow in late fall / winter for spring blooms
You can also sow again in early summer for a second round of flowers.
2. Where to Plant
Sunlight: Full sun is best (6+ hours daily) for strong stems and lots of blooms
Soil: Any average soil is fine. but well-draining soil is important
They even grow beautifully in slightly poor soil ?? no heavy fertilizing needed.
3. How to Sow Seeds (Direct Sowing Recommended)
Loosen the top layer of soil and remove weeds
Scatter seeds lightly over the area
Cover with a thin layer of soil (about 1/8?C1/4 inch / 3?C6 mm)
Water gently to settle the seeds
Germination: usually 7?C14 days
4. Spacing & Thinning
Once seedlings are a few inches tall. thin them to:
6?C10 inches apart (15?C25 cm)
This gives airflow and prevents mildew.
5. Watering
Keep soil lightly moist while seeds are sprouting
After plants establish. water only when the top soil feels dry
Bachelor’s Buttons are drought-tolerant once grown
Too much water = weak stems and fewer flowers
6. For More Blooms!
To keep flowers coming all season:
Deadhead regularly (snip off spent blooms)
This encourages continuous flowering.
Want them to self-seed for next year?
Leave a few flowers to dry at the end of the season
7. Growing in Pots
Bachelor’s Buttons also thrive in containers!
Use a pot at least 8?C10 inches deep (20?C25 cm)
Choose a well-draining potting mix
Water when the top inch dries out
What to Expect
Blooms appear around 8?C10 weeks after sowing
Mixed colors will bloom in soft. natural waves
Great for cutting. drying. and pollinator gardens
Quick Tips
No need for rich fertilizer
Full sun = best flowers
Thin plants for airflow
Deadhead for longer bloom time
